The monochrome trend is one
that should be as well explored by the male of species as well as the ladies.
We can carry it off in a dapper, stylish manner and the fact that the
two-tone look goes equally well with Indian and western clothes means
there is plenty to play with.
Go black and white or simply
wear varying tones of one colour in an outfit, and we promise the look
will be a complete hit. Here's my guide
to how to master the art of wearing monochrome.
Monochrome Suit
The classic and perhaps
easiest way to wear monochrome would be suits. You can opt for a
black blazer with a white shirt and bow tie, or a black and
white blazer with black pants or vice versa which is a trendier
option. The other option is to pick a neutral colour like a grey. Pair a
similar coloured shirt as that of the jacket or blazer and lighter or
darker toned tie. While the palette is within the same colour, using
different fabric or patterns for each item will give an interesting
textural contrast to your look.
The New Mix 'N' Match
Monochrome can well be called
the new mix ‘n’ match (or just
match!). Trends and designers agree with this concept. Wear navy blue
pants with a light blue shirt and a striped blue tie. It is sure to
look good and is different and similar at the same time. Don’t
be afraid of wearing one colour in different shades and patterns all over,
because gone are the days when matching everything didn’t
make sense. Matching your ties, cufflinks, belts or pants is definitely
the way to go.
Madly Mochromatic
The idea is to choose one
colour and get as many different hues and tones of it as possible. Make
sure there is a balance of light and dark shades because you don’t
want to look like a canvas splashed with paint without any consideration.
If you’re wearing dark grey pants, pair them with
a lighter shade of grey shirt or vice versa. A
charcoal grey tie and dark coloured shoes will complete this
monochrome look.
Whether you go matchy-matchy
with a colour or stick to black and white, this is one trend to try and add to
your bag of sartorial tricks.
